Registrations for this event are closed.

This form is required to be completed by anyone wishing to nominate for the player draft for the 2024 Softball Victoria Open State Championships.

What is the Player Draft?
For players where their Association is not entering a team into the State Championships, or where a player has not made it into their Association's representative team, the Player Draft is a system that allows players the opportunity to play for another Association at the State Championships.

Why is the Player Draft important?
Any player wanting to represent Victoria at the 2025 National Championships must participate at the State Championships. The Player Draft provides an opportunity to participate for those who have not made it into their Association's representative team or where their Association has chosen not to enter a team into the State Championships.

When does the Player Draft close?
The Player Draft is open now and closes at 9:00pm on Tuesday 19 March 2024.

What are the steps after nominating for the Player Draft?
The Draft will be held with participating associations on Thursday 21 March 2024, with notification of draft results to entrants by Friday 22 March 2024.

State Championship Regulations can be found here Softball Victoria State Championship Regulations.

Following the survey of the membership (THE RESULTS OF THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS SURVEY ARE IN! published 22 December 2023), the following variations to the State Championship Regulations apply:

  1. Participation at State Championships are mandatory for all players and Head Coaches wanting to represent Victoria at the 2025 National Championships.  Members wanting to represent Victoria at the Under 23s will be required to attend the Open State Championships.  The State Championships for the Over 35s will not be mandatory in 2024.
  2. Team construction for both open and underage teams will be Association based, with Associations required to have a minimum of nine (9) of their own players (and a maximum of 13) to submit a team.  Where Associations cannot achieve a minimum team size, players will be required to nominate to be drafted.  Players are required to play for their home Associations where their home Association has entered a team.  Associations can only cut players where their team numbers would exceed 13 players to enter the draft.  Players that cannot represent their home Association due to not being chosen for the Associations 13 representatives, then those players will be required to nominate to be drafted.
