The cougars started off strong to keep the Knights scoreless at the top of the first. George Psimaris and Pat Parackley both ran home to build a commanding early 3-0 lead for the Cougars.

The Cougars furthered their grip on the game in the second inning – with Knights still scoreless – the home side extended the scoreline to 5-0.

The Knights trimmed the lead in the third when they got on the board. Steve Dawson hit the first home with Peter Lambley on first base to keep in touch with the Cougars.

The Cougars felt the heat, but defended the lead as the Knights after five innings made no progress to trim the deficit, trailing 5-2.

In the sixth inning, the Cougars iced the game scoring an additional two runs to put the game out of reach for the Knights. They kept the Knights scoreless in the seventh to end the game early and book a Grand Final meeting against the Metrans.

The Grand Final featuring Metrans and Cougars takes place this Thursday 1st April, 8pm, at Knox Softball Association.
