The Hawks comeback from a five-run deficit in Werribee, to secure an 11-7 victory over the Eastern Bucks in Fastpitch action on Thursday night.
The Hawks were slow out of the gates failing to hit the scoreboard until the fourth inning, Jason Kriehn’s home run got the side off the mark, but had their momentum halted by the Bucks in the following inning.
At the top of the fifth inning the Bucks looked to be in control, Dean Leskie, Cam Crofts, Nick Cassar, Joel Goodall and Henry Mullan all ran home to take a 7-2 lead going in the bottom of the inning.
The home side needed to lift and they responded swiftly. A fielding error by the Bucks caused Noah Cooney, Brent James and Todd Kriehn to all run home and open the flood gates, reversing the deficit to 8-7.
The Hawks continued to run off with the game, scoring another three runs to take home a stirring four-run victory. Fielding blunders and lack of runs in the final two innings from the Bucks helped turn the tables for the eventual victors.
