METRANS CRUISE PAST COUGARS IN ROUND 8

After beating the Cougars in the Skins Grand Final on Sunday, the Metrans proved too strong once again winning 9-2 and 16-9 at home in Fastpitch action on Thursday night.

The Metrans were quick to get off the mark in game one, Joel Southam ran home to open the scoring in the first inning, and then turned it up a notch in the third inning.

With the scores at 1-0, the Metrans started to run away with the game, Ricky Wheeler’s home run took the lead out to four runs.

At the top of the fourth inning the Cougars would register their first run, then Pat White ran home to trim the margin back to just two runs.

In the fifth inning Wheeler would score another home run to stretch the lead out, before the side rallied in the last inning, scoring four runs to take a home a 9-2 victory in the first game.

In game two the Cougars started better scoring three runs, but would then be on the backfoot once again by the end of the first inning.

At the bottom of the first, Southam hit a home run, which would be the first of a seven-run flurry which set the tone for the rest of the game, taking out the second game also by seven runs (16-9).

Having beaten a strong Cougars side by an average of five runs in their past three encounters, the Metrans have put the league on notice.
