ONE SOFTBALL SUPPORTING THE GROWTH OF SOFTBALL IN VICTORIA

Published Fri 07 May 2021

Softball Victoria (SV) is excited to inform the Victorian softball community of the new staff structure following its agreement to join the One Softball management model in March 2021.

One Softball enables the sport to optimise its operations in delivering a cohesive, whole of sport administrative approach at all levels of the organisation.

While maintaining our identify, One Softball will enable SV to address the long-term membership challenge and insure long-term financial stability. It will most importantly allocate resources, create strategies and introduce additional staff to ultimately increase participation nationwide.

The staff restructure is as follows:

Cheryl Waye (Operations & Events Coordinator) has moved into the State Operations Manager role in a part-time capacity, working across all areas of the organisation.

One of the key drivers for change of the One Softball model is the need to increase the resourcing of participation at community level and provide better, targeted support to affiliate Associations and Clubs across the country.

The significant increase in participation resourcing includes Tim Hatzi (Regional Development Coordinator – West) taking on a full time Senior Participation Coordinator role looking after the West and North regions.

Danielle Rigg (Regional Development Coordinator – East) will shift into a part time Participation Coordinator role, primarily working within the East Metro region.

A new full time Participation Coordinator – (South East and Regional) position is currently being advertised and will be responsible for driving participation outcomes in the South Eastern suburbs, along with driving opportunities in regional Victoria. Remaining unchanged is Jenny Cassidy who will continue in the role as Sporting Schools Coordinator.

Softball Victoria Chairperson Anthony Bradstreet said the One Softball structure heralds the next phase for Victorian softball.

“On behalf of the entire board, we are excited to see the move into One Softball and the increased focus for participation which is in line with our strategic plan.

“Our team brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our operations, and we’re thrilled to see them continue their commitment to having a significant impact on this next phase for softball in Victoria,” Bradstreet said.

“I’m excited to step into the State Operations Managers role and work with Bron Parry, the newly appointed National Operations Manager as part of the One Softball restructure,” Cheryl Waye said.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenges, learning opportunities that the role offers and the prospect that One Softball presents our sport in Victoria,” she added.
