With both teams scoreless in the first innings, Waverley opened proceedings in the second half. Alex Chapman who put in another impressive pitching display – and proved he was just as dangerous batting – scoring the opening home run of the game.
Nathan Tidey then stepped up straight after with a home run of his own to double the advantage.
The Cougars would respond in the third inning with their first run, though the deficit would get stretched out once again.
Chapman and Tidey would both score again to give the side a four-run lead, rain falling down shortly after, halting their momentum.
After the rain settled the Cougars came out to bat, George Psimaris ran home to trim the margin – but as the side got a run on – the rain came down again, this time ending the match early.
Waverley would leave as 6-2 winners in a comprehensive win over the in-form team of the competition.
